SOCIAL INEQUALITIES

The educational system in Togo has made it difficult for ambitious and aspiring youngsters when it comes to getting a solid education. Togo has been experiencing a slight increase in their Gini coefficient (inequalities in income level) over the past few years regardless of the country's overall economic performance. As a result, children from lower-income backgrounds often tend to be taken out of school to pursue jobs in the search of money. Families send their children to the capital of Togo (Lomé) and even abroad to work as farmers, maids and in relatively dangerous jobs. The lack of support from the government and the financial dysfunctionality of many families have more or less prevented bright talents to fully prosper into tomorrow's leaders and hence trigger a sustainable development. Despite the initiatives from a variety of local and international ONGs in creating employment, we can rather see that the inequality rate in Togo keeps increasing. Hence our philosophy remains simple; Promoting education and making it accessible to every single togolese is what we value as sustainable development as it simply creates tomorrow's leaders. 

Quality institutions

Togo's best academical institutions are mostly private and accessible to the wealthiest portion of the population. Lower-class families have to settle for public school often of extremely poor building quality. Classrooms are normally small and owercrowded with students and the infrastructures are not meeting the modern minimum standards. There are only two public universities in Togo, respectively in the capital Lomé and in the city of Kara in the north of the country. Again the lack of higher education institutions in the country makes it harder for promising students to access a higher education due to the limit of places at the respective universities. The financial situation of most of these students also makes it hard for them to consider options abroad due to significantly high tuition fees and living expenses. 

SCHOLARSHIPS

As we believe in the power of education, we have managed to establish solid relationships with several universities across Europe, Asia and Africa. We have specialized in obtaining academic scholarships for hard-working and motivated students, which can be documented with several students we have helped cover all possible costs with relevant scholarships.

In order to provide our students with the most suitable options, we take certain measures into account:

• The student has to demonstrate academic excellency.
• Possession of a valid passport is necessary.
• Respecting and following our instructions.
• Being able to speak at least one major foreign language is a must.

All costs, including application fees etc., are covered by the association as we want to make the whole application process enjoyable for the student.
